10 Tips to Stay Healthy Over Easter

Happy Easter! 🌺

That time of year is almost upon us when the Easter bunny comes to deliver some tasty treats. Easter is a time to celebrate and spend time with your family. But, often, it’s a time filled with food too. It’s all about balance. So, to help you over this tempting period, I’ve put together some tips to help you stay healthy over the Easter period while still enjoying the delicious, chocolaty goodness that comes with it too.

🍳1. Fill up on eggs

No, unfortunately I am not talking about the delicious chocolate kind. Whether you have them scrambled, boiled or fried, eggs are a great breakfast option as they’re full of protein which will help curve your cravings and keep you fuller for longer. What’s more, eggs are a great source of amino acids and vitamin D, which will help build your muscles and strengthen your bones.

✨2. Go for high-quality chocolate eggs

Life is all about balance, and you certainly shouldn’t stop yourself from enjoying this part of the Easter celebrations. However, to help keep things on the healthier side, try to go for chocolate eggs with a higher percentage of quality cocoa. Not only will you get to savour the taste of this yummy treat, but you'll also get to enjoy the numerous benefits that come from eating high-quality dark chocolate, such as antioxidants. Sometimes you can find protein chocolate eggs too.

💐3. Plan your treats

While it can be easy to go overboard, I recommend saving the chocolates for Easter Sunday. Then once you’ve had your treat, account for it (if you’re counting your calories) and move on. By limiting the eggs to one day, you’ll prevent yourself from nibbling on chocolate throughout the weekend.

🌷4. Eat a healthy Easter lunch

I am not saying you should eat like a bunny, but when it comes to Easter lunch, filling your plate up with delicious vegetables is a good way to fill up on healthy fibres which will satiate your appetite.

💫6. If you find yourself getting snackish, fill up on some foods the Easter bunny would love, like carrots, celery, cucumber, and other fresh foods. Combine it with hummous, guacamole or peanut butter. And you’ll happily be munching away.

🌹7. Get active and have fun

Easter doesn’t have to be all about chocolate and food. It should also be a time to come together as a family and have a good time. Now, getting active over the Easter weekend may not sound like your cup of tea, but it can actually be lots of fun. You can start with the age-old tradition of egg hunting. Then you can move on to some other activities like an egg and spoon race, bunny hopsack, a skipping race or any other Easter-themed games you can think of. Not only will this keep your mind off of the tasty treats, but it will also help you get your body moving. Obviously, you can always pop out for a gym workout too. Or get your steps in.

🌻8. If you have any celebrations with family, drink sugar free drinks to save up some calories for the yummy snacks.

🌾9. If you crave chocolate, I would suggest to drink chocolate protein shake or get a chocolate egg with any flavored protein shake. It is a great combination any time of the day. Or add a bit of chocolate egg into your porridge to get the protein and sweetness.

🌷10. What is in the cupboard

You know the rule, if there are no sweets in the cupboard, then you won't eat it. So do not get crazy with your shopping. Be mindful what will you keep in your fridge or cupboard over the weekend.
